Description

(Info from Wikipedia [link])

The eagle rays are a group of cartilaginous fishes in the family Myliobatidae, consisting mostly of large species living in the open ocean rather than on the sea bottom.

Eagle rays feed on mollusks and crustaceans, crushing their shells with their flattened teeth, while devil and manta rays filter plankton from the water. They are excellent swimmers and are able to breach the water up to several meters above the surface. Compared with other rays, they have long tails, and well-defined rhomboidal bodies. They are oviparous, giving birth to up to six young at a time. They range from 48 centimeters (19 in) to 9.1 meters (30 ft) in length

I am in love with this picture. Out of all the Eagle Ray pictures you've taken, this one is by far the best. The vision of the underwater picture is absolutely stunning, and the spots on the Ray that contrast the blue-scale sea life is a great add-in. I'm honestly dumbstruck by how you managed to take such a clear picture of a moving animal, directly in the center, while underwater. You've got to have a good camera.

Well, now that I'm done drooling over myself, I should provide constructive criticism, since this is what Critiques are for. The back of the Eagle Ray isn't quite as defined as the front, and I would either make sure that all of the Ray is defined, or I would play off of that and make the back become less defined, so it appears that the Ray is jumping out of the sea life from out of nowhere. Catch my drift? That's really the best I can do on this one. I'd aim to have your other pictures be more centered like this one.

Also (though this is something you probably will not follow through on), I think the watermark distracts from the beauty of the piece entirely. I get really distracted by the little box in the corner.

Please, please keep doing what you're doing. People like you make Photography a Fine Art.
